2024 Australian Vet Motocross championship

Hey everyone!

Wow, what an incredible day at the Australian Motocross National Championship at Queensland Moto Park! I’m still buzzing from the excitement of winning the Vet 40+ class, and I wanted to share a bit about how it all went down.

Race Day:

From the moment we hit the track I couldn’t believe how great of a job the Queensland Moto Park did on the prep considering we had over 100mm of rain the week leading up to the event. I was riding the Stark Future Varg, and I have to say, it’s been a game-changer for me. In the first moto, I started with a fully charged battery at 99% and got off to a solid start. I managed to keep the pace strong and finished with the battery still at 36% after 19:23 minutes of racing. The bike was set at 55HP with 40% regen, which gave me the perfect balance of power and efficiency throughout the race. Following my dominant moto 1 victory I was informed by the race official that I had a two spot penalty for my friend/mechanic on the day Lee Black stepping over the gate. I was bummed but I wasn’t there to collect trophies. My main focus was to showcase the Vargs capabilities on a National level track prepped deep. I took the penalty and got back the pits to prep the bike and move on to the next moto.

I was entering the the second moto with a third so I it was simple with what I had to do. I had to win and let the cards fallen favour with moto scores. I got a second place start and made a quick pass to the lead where I would put over a minute gap on second place. After the second and third place riders crossed the line the cards indeed fell in my favour and I was rewarded with the overall 40+ National Championship.

My Thoughts:

Winning the Vet 40+ championship feels amazing! It’s been a wild ride, especially considering where we were last year with no bikes on the market. To come back and take the win in the Vet classes is a huge milestone for us. It’s a big step toward our goal of competing in MX1, MX2, and MX3 in 2025. I couldn’t have done it without the fantastic support from everyone involved and the incredible performance of the Stark Future Varg.

Family and Fun:

The best part of the day was sharing this victory with my family and all the fans who came out to cheer. Having my brother in-law Luke Reardon winning the 30+ class on the Varg was unreal. Luke is a bust guy coaching riders across Australia so for him to get on the Varg and dominate was really special as a restarts his vet racing journey. It was great to see so many smiling faces. My kids were especially excited, and their cheers made the win even sweeter when Ashton got on my bike with me like I did with Mason and Noah over a decade ago.

Looking Ahead:

This win is just the beginning for the Stark Future Varg. We’re gearing up for more races and challenges ahead, and I’m pumped to see where this journey takes us. Thanks to everyone who supported us and made the day so special.
