I have been putting off getting a new toolbox for the van for multiple reasons. My existing toolbox is old, beat up, and rattles around making a bunch of noise while I drive down the road. The tools in it are almost a embarrassment, but it was hard to spend a bunch of money on tools and a box when I wasn’t going to get what I wanted.

What I wanted was a smaller more condensed toolbox that had all I needed for just my motorcycles, but could use it to get by to work on my bicycle if it broke on a mtb trip. I was also hoping for a box with foam inserts to help keep the box organized but more importantly quite in my van while driving.

I stumbled across the Sonic toolbox on Cole Seely’s Instagram and it looked like something that would cover all of my needs. I am not a Troy Lee Designs athlete and never have been, but what I do appreciate about the brand is they align them selves with like minded companies that help develop products for two wheel specific sports. From the info I read it looks like the team hit the mark, so I ordered up the $600 lifetime warranty toolbox and when it arrived I was more then elated the way everything came organized in the foam labeled for what drawer it belonged in. It only took me about 10 minutes to put all the tools in the correct drawers and foam inserts. The box looked great! It was lite, organized with high quality tools ready to slide into the van.

Before I loaded it up I quickly realized David Pingree was WRONG! I didn’t have everything I needed. I was about 1 drawer short for a few tools of what I feel are important things to have a complete a real track ready toolbox.

Are these above tools a deal breaker for the toolbox? Absolutely not! I have upgraded the quality of my tools and the tools will stay in better shape longer with the foam inserts. I cut down the weight of my box by almost half. I have yet to figure out how I will add the rest of what I need to my van with out just throwing it in a bag or small box tucked away. At the end of the day I am very happy with my toolbox and they tools that came in it. Here is the big question? Should you buy this Sonic toolbox? Yes!!! Like I said before the Sonic toolbox is filled with premium tools and everything you need for race day, but like I said there is some moto specific tools I will add to it.
