Trail Distance & What to Expect

The classic Purling Brook Falls circuit — the main Springbrook Falls hike — is about 4 km return as a loop trail.  This walk takes you through rainforest, down to the base of the falls, across a suspension bridge, and back up to the picnic area. It usually takes around 1.5–2 hours at a relaxed pace.

It’s rated moderate — not super easy, but very doable for most people.

I took my 3-year-old, and he walked the entire way down. That’s right — no stroller, no piggy-backs at first! And on the way back up when he was getting tired, I put him on my shoulders — totally manageable. It’s a solid little outing for families and beginner hikers. Even as a guy who normally avoids hiking, I genuinely enjoyed it.
