Round 1 MXstore's 125 Triple Crown at QMP

In 2021 the team at MXstore worked with Corey Creed and supported his passion project to have an 18 year old and over 125 racing series. We went to two different locations, our local Gold Coast Motocross Club, and Rockhampton in Northern Queensland where we had a feature race in the King of Capricorn. It was a hit to say the least and the community loved it so in 2022 MXstore put together a 125 triple crown. The first round was at QMP “Queensland moto park” and the unique opportunity for the first 20 riders to sign up in the amateur/clubman or pro class MXstore paid for their entry.

Prior to the race I was up late in the garage putting on some great looking P3 carbon products so when I showed up to the track I would have a little flex on the boys with some bling on my bike. At the MXstore 125 triple crown It’s all about having fun and with the likes of Elijah Wiese and Luke “Prongy” Davis traveling from South Australia and Perth all the way to Gold Coast to do battle it makes the hard work all worthwhile. We had the OG’s from the 2021 125 series show up like Taz Hutch, Andrew Reardon and Corey Creed but with all the new faces in the pits for the two class, 4 moto day on the Natural Terrain track the day was set to go off.

The rain threatened the race day but when we woke up in the morning to blue sky’s and some fresh loam it was on. We were all jazzed for practice and I went out and sure enough tucked the front in practice on one of the technical off camber turns and got my fresh FXR gear muddy. I was a little pissed because I can’t not look good, that’s all I got these days haha. Moto one was up and well I was terrible! Bad start, and to put in perspective the start was so bad a CR125 built by the legend MicMac beat me to the first turn. I made some good passes and caught the lead group but sent it into the back of Blake Cobbin when he decided to roll though a deep rut. I picked myself up in the muddy turn and went on to a very lack luster 6th place.

Second motos start was much the same as I was Ping Ponging off dudes and was in about 10th before I decided to take a break in a turn before the end of the first lap. I wanted to lose my shit but decided to get up and ride the wheels off the GasGas mc125. I had some much fun slicing and dicing through the back before I made a last lap pass on my brother in-law Andrew Reardon. Passing him from dead last felt like a win because he is such a shit talker. The day was done I didn’t ride good, I got a prize for 6th overall and the boys reminded my how bad I rode. As much as I laugh about it now, I was pissed. I race to do well and to have the boys who travelled up to race beat was lame lol.

Well onto the next round at Herve Bay that is a fun sand track 4hrs north of the Gold Coast. I have yet to ride this track so I’m looking forward to riding this track.
