Queensland Moto Park
Growing up in Southern California I have watched the scene change from tracks in the hills to having 8 different public tracks to ride in a 2 hour radius. We are very fortunate to have a variety of tracks that are prepped daily for us to use and once you get accustomed to that you seem to complain when the track has a bad day of prep. People have no idea what it takes to build a real track let alone prep it daily.
In this GoPro track review I give you my thoughts about the Queensland Moto Park. My in-laws live on the Gold coast of Australia and my wives three brothers have been very active in the Motocross community in Australia. They have told me how crappy their tracks are and how expensive it is to ride them. They don’t prep unless they feel like it and they never change it so they say.
It was a little over an hour drive from the Gold Coast to the Queensland Moto Park on a one lane road that’s goes through some beautiful countryside. The tracks are laid out in a beautiful valley with rolling grass hill and eucalyptus trees all around. The cost of the facility depends on if you are a Motorcycle Australian member or Not. For a non member it’s $57.90 and $43.90 for a member. That’s almost double what we pay for in California. This facility truly has something for everyone below is the list of the tracks, trails and training areas that QMP has to offer
MX1
The MX1 track is about 1:30-2:00 depending on riding level and is the second most popular track. It has lots of Downhills with off camber and some table tops. The lap was done after they watered so with the clay it was rad slick. The prep wasn’t bad but clearly could have been better if you would like to compare to tracks in the states.
MX 2
The MX2 Track was for sure the most busy and was the one that I rode on a Husqvarna 125. The day before it rained and 80% of the track was prepped quite nice. The parts that weren’t prepped were Lips of Jump’s and transitions to the rollers but the track had a fun lay out with good ruts, fun small jumps and acceleration and breaking bumps for training

NATURAL TERRAIN
This Natural Terrain Track was one of the tracks I was looking forward to but the ground was extremely hard and hadn’t been prepped in a few areas and the lay out was tight for a so called natural track. I’d like to see a little faster and wide open similar to Unadilla because they have that type of landscape that’s for sure. This track was more of the same just with out jumps. I’d say similar to our Vet Tracks in the States
STADIUM X
The Stadium X/Supercross Track was a nice looking track for training from the looks of it. It had all the features to be learn SX in a controlled environment. I believe you have to be SX endorsed to ride this track or be coached by a trainer that is endorsed. I like this aspect of control in the Australian moto community because we have some sketchy riders and even more sketchy trainers helping riders on Supercross tracks
Pee Wee “Kids Track”
My boys didn’t ride the tracks so I don’t have a first hand perspective of the tracks but from the looks of it they were great tracks to learn basics, but they didn’t have many spots to get a lot of speed and the tracks prep was smooth and hard pack which in my opinion good for the kids
Below is the description from the park
There are three tracks specifically catering to junior riders - Junior MX, Mini Junior MX and the Peewee Track. Each one progressively steps up from a basic flat track to some jumps and elevation changes to miniature MX track.
On the weekends there are designated times when a fullsize MX track will be closed from the Seniors in order to allow the Juniors to rotate around the park a try out all the fullsize MX tracks in a controlled environment.
Trail System
I didn’t ride the trail System but I could see a little bit of the trails and they looked really fun. Below is the description from the Park
Trail Ride / Enduro Loops
To experience the scenic views and mountain ranges which encompass the Moto Park, there are 50 kilometres of trails which wind through the deep gullies, alongside creek beds and upwards to the top of the many ridgelines which offer the best view of the Scenic Rim.
If you have a UHF Radio, please tune in to Channel 15 to contact the office and QMP Staff in case of an emergency.
After spending the day at the track with family and friend I have to say I’m very impressed with the facility. Here are a key points that I really like. I love how strict they are on enforcing rules at the park. They run a tight ship that’s for sure. The park is very clean and ran like a business and not a dirty construction site. Their is a Track for everyone to shire their needs and ability’s. That being said I’d say that’s the downfall of the facility. I think they have too many tracks to prep for the amount of traffic coming in. I’d like to think if they opened a few tracks a day they could do a completed overhaul prep before the weekend instead of a little on all the tracks. At the end of the day if you are on the east coast of Australia and want to go ride and have a good time I can assure you QMP has something to offer you.
