TWMX El Dorado at Cahuilla
The annual World Two Stroke National ay Glen Helen is approaching in April and I’m very happy to announce that I have been given the opportunity to race a KTM USA 250sx for Dean Potts and Bonanza Plumbing. Dean delivered the bike to me late last week, so I could start getting comfy on this fine machine. I have plenty of seat time that’s for sure, but I haven’t raced a Two Stroke much so I thought it would be best for me to load it up and head out to Cahuilla Creek last Sunday for the TWMX Race Series. I raced the 30+ pro class and the 250 “aka” lites class. All I did to the bike for this race was put a FMF pipe and silencer, Hinson clutch cover and a Fasst Company brake spring on the bike. I set the air pressure in the fork at 10.4 bar and sag at 105. Everything else was straight from the show room floor.
All four of my motos went really well. I got good starts, rode well and my fitness seems to be on point. I ended up going 1-2 in the lites class and 2-2 in the 30+ pro class. I’ll put some more race time on the bike maybe this weekend at a Mammoth Qualifier and Loretta Lynn area qualifier to get everything a little more dialed, but the goal is to be competitive for the race in April and there is no substitute for racing.
There will be a full race build on this bike coming soon so stay tuned, but until then here is some of my specs from the weekend.
